Recovery

How long it takes to recover from a nervous breakdown is, in my opinion largely determined by destiny and God’s grace. Some recover very quickly, within a few short months. Others take years. For myself, although I returned to my responsibilities as a university lecture within three months, before my nervous system was robust enough for me to work at levels of high intensity for sustained periods.
Such ongoing vulnerability does not have to be regarded as an infirmity or a disability, but rather as a continuing openness to the vast unknown potential lying in wait within us all. It also acts as an ongoing incentive to explore the deeper philosophical and metaphysical issues of life, to recognize ever more clearly that there is a supremely benevolent meaning underlying all of this apparent chaos and suffering.
Provided you hold on to the belief that all of our experiences are part of an evolution towards a higher good, appear love and a more lasting peace, your progress is a short.
